Inspiring school students to consider a career in law

Hannah Mantle and Bryan Shacklady from Forsters' Dispute Resolution team participated this August in the annual Lauriston Lights summer school at Bow School.

Hannah and Bryan were part of a workshop that also features barristers from Serle Court. The purpose of the workshop is to introduce highly able children at the stage of the key transition from primary to secondary school to law as something that they might consider as a career in the future. This is done in the form of a workshop based on a real life case concerning the authorship of a Bob Marley song. The children are taught the basics of how a court trial works and the difference between open and closed questions used in examination in chief and cross examination. They then stage the trial, with one group of children acting as the judges.

Hannah and Bryan are both very proud to be encouraging wider access to the profession.
